This Oreo Milkshake is the ultimate sweet treat—rich, thick, and packed with cookies-and-cream goodness! With just a few simple ingredients, this beginner-friendly recipe is perfect for satisfying your cravings in minutes!

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 Oreo cookies – Classic Oreos work best, but you can try different flavors like mint or golden Oreos for variety.
  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream – A high-quality ice cream will give you the creamiest texture, but any brand will work.
  • 1 cup whole milk – Whole milk creates a rich and smooth shake, but you can substitute it with low-fat milk, almond milk, or oat milk.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract – This enhances the flavor, but it’s optional if your ice cream is already strongly flavored.
  • Whipped cream and chocolate syrup (for topping) – These add extra sweetness and presentation, but you can skip them if you prefer a simpler shake.
  • Extra Oreo cookies for garnish (optional) – These make the shake look even more appealing and add a little crunch on top.

Instructions

Step 1: Crush the Oreos

Place the Oreo cookies in a thick freezer bag and seal it. Using a rolling pin or the back of a spoon, gently pound the cookies until they turn into coarse crumbs. This helps them blend more easily and evenly into the shake.

Tip: If you want a chunkier shake, crush the Oreos less finely so you get small cookie pieces in every sip.

Step 2: Blend the Ingredients

In a blender, pour in the milk first. This helps the blades move smoothly and prevents the ice cream from getting stuck. Then, add the ice cream and crushed Oreos.

Pulse the blender a few times to start breaking down the cookies, then blend on medium speed until the mixture is completely smooth.

Step 3: Add Vanilla Extract (Optional)

Once blended, add ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract and blend again for a few seconds. This enhances the flavor, especially if you’re using a basic vanilla ice cream.

Step 4: Adjust the Consistency

If the shake is too thick, add a little more milk (one tablespoon at a time) and blend until you reach your desired consistency. If it’s too thin, add an extra scoop of ice cream and blend again.

Step 5: Serve and Garnish

Pour the milkshake into two glasses. Top with whipped cream and drizzle chocolate syrup over it. For an extra touch, place a whole Oreo cookie on top as a garnish.

Step 6: Enjoy Immediately

Serve your milkshake right away with a straw and a spoon for scooping up any cookie chunks. The sooner you drink it, the better the texture will be.

Notes

1. Use the Right Ice Cream-to-Milk Ratio

Too much ice cream makes the shake too thick, while too much milk makes it watery. The key is 2 cups of ice cream to 1 cup of milk, but you can adjust slightly based on your preference.

2. Don’t Overblend

Blending for too long can make the shake too thin and melt the ice cream. Blend just until smooth, then stop.

3. Pre-Crush the Oreos

While some blenders can handle whole cookies, pre-crushing them ensures an even texture and prevents chunks from getting stuck in the straw.

4. Serve Immediately

Milkshakes taste best when freshly blended. If you need to store it for a short time, keep it in the freezer for up to 10 minutes before serving.

5. Experiment with Flavors

Try different Oreo varieties, flavored ice creams, or fun mix-ins to customize your shake. A dash of cinnamon, a drizzle of caramel, or a handful of chocolate chips can take it to the next level.
