  • Total Time: 38 minutes
  • Yield: 16 pizza rolls 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tube (13.8 ounces) pizza dough: Thinly rolled out and cut into squares. This will form the base of your pizza rolls.
  • ¾ cup pizza sauce: Use a flavorful pizza sauce as the main filling.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced: Adds depth and aroma to the sauce.
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning: A blend of herbs like basil, oregano, and thyme, providing a classic Italian flavor.
  • ½ cup pepperoni, diced: Adds a savory, salty component to each roll.
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded: The melty cheese that binds everything together inside each roll.
  • Cooking spray: For spraying the pizza rolls to achieve a golden and crispy exterior.

Instructions

  • Prepare the Air Fryer and Work Surface: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This setup ensures a smooth assembly process and quick cooking once the rolls are ready.
  • Mix the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the pizza sauce, minced garlic, and Italian seasoning. Stir until well blended and set aside. This step ensures the flavors are evenly distributed in every roll.
  • Roll and Cut the Dough: Lightly dust a clean work surface with flour to prevent sticking. Roll out the pizza dough into a 12×12-inch square, ensuring it’s evenly thin. Use a sharp knife or a pizza cutter to divide the dough into 16 equal squares. Transfer these squares to the prepared baking sheet.
  • Assemble the Rolls: Spoon 1 teaspoon of the seasoned pizza sauce onto the center of each square. Add 1 teaspoon of diced pepperoni and 1 teaspoon of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the sauce. Be careful not to overfill, as this could make sealing the dough difficult.
  • Seal the Rolls: Wet the edges of each dough square with a small amount of water. Fold one corner up to the center, followed by the two side corners. Finally, fold the remaining corner down, pressing gently to seal all edges. Lightly press the seams with your fingers or a fork to ensure they’re tightly sealed.
  • Prepare for Air Frying: Lightly spray the sealed rolls with cooking spray. Arrange them in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each roll for even cooking. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches.
  • Cook the Rolls: Air fry the pizza rolls at 400°F for 8 minutes, or until they’re golden brown and crispy. Keep an eye on them to avoid overcooking, as air fryer times can vary slightly.
  • Serve and Enjoy: Remove the pizza rolls from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Serve them hot with optional dipping sauces like ranch dressing or extra pizza sauce for an added burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Seal the Dough Properly: Ensuring the edges of the dough are well-sealed is crucial. Any gaps could cause the filling to leak during cooking. Using a small amount of water helps create a stronger seal.
  • Don’t Overfill: While it’s tempting to add more filling, overstuffing can make the rolls difficult to seal and lead to messier results. Stick to the recommended amounts for the best outcome.
  • Work in Batches: If your air fryer basket is small, avoid overcrowding. Cooking in batches allows the rolls to cook evenly and achieve maximum crispiness.
