Ingredients
Scale
- 8 slices of rye bread
- ½ cup of Thousand Island dressing
- 8 slices of Swiss cheese
- 8 slices of deli-style corned beef
- 1 cup of drained sauerkraut
- 2 tablespoons of softened butter
Instructions
- Preparation: Begin by warming up a large griddle or skillet over a medium heat setting.
- Assembling the Sandwich: Take your rye bread slices and spread the Thousand Island dressing evenly on one side of each slice. On half of these slices, start building your sandwich. Place a slice of Swiss cheese, followed by two slices of corned beef, a generous spoonful (about 1/4 cup) of sauerkraut, and then another slice of Swiss cheese. Complete the sandwich with another slice of bread, dressing side facing inward. Don’t forget to gently butter the top side of each sandwich.
- Grilling to Perfection: Now, place your sandwiches on the griddle or skillet, buttered side down. As they start to cook, apply butter to the top side of each sandwich. Grill them until they achieve a golden brown hue, which typically takes about 5 minutes on each side. The cheese should be delightfully melted, and the bread crisply toasted.
- Ready to Serve: Once done, serve these mouth-watering Reuben sandwiches hot and enjoy the burst of flavors!
